What is THE ELIJAH LIST?
First . . . a Word about PROPHESYING
Our God, a loving Father--didn't just wrap things up in
Jerusalem nearly 2,000 years ago and then just "call it a day."
And He didn't stop talking to His people--you know, the people His son
died for, the Church, and yes, the World! God sent His son, Jesus to show
us the Father's love, to sacrifice Himself for our sins, ascend to Heaven
itself to sit at His Father's right hand, and now---
Heb 7:25 " Therefore he is able to save completely
those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede
for them."
Praise God, Jesus is active with us, family members of
His, interceding (praying and acting on our behalf) for us. And while He
is active at the Father's right hand, He also told us,
John 16:13-14 "But when he, the Spirit of truth,
comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he
will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14
He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known
to you."
The Holy Spirit has been making known to us the Lord's
will for our PERSONAL lives ever since. That ability to hear from the
Spirit what God is saying to the church, and to family members in the
church-- has never ceased. The Holy Spirit is NOT UNEMPLOYED today but is
constantly talking to and guiding us in the affairs of life. When you hear
of people in the occult channeling a "guide"---that is nothing
more than a cheap imitation (and a great sin against God) of the real
thing--the HOLY SPIRIT whose own job it is to "lead us into all
Truth." When we "hear Him" (the Lord) and speak out what He
is saying, that's called PROPHECY. When we speak PROPHECY, it's called
PROPHESYING.
From the Old Testament:
Amos 3:8 The lion has roared-- who
will not fear? The Sovereign LORD has spoken-- who can but prophesy?
From the New Testament:
Acts 4:19-20 But Peter and John replied, "Judge for
yourselves whether it is right in God's sight to obey you rather than God.
20 For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen
and heard."
1 Cor 14:1 Follow the way of love and eagerly
desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy.
WHOLE BOOKS HAVE BEEN WRITTEN
There have been many books written
on prophecy and soon some of those books will be available through this
site. Suffice it to say, the scripture is clear on the teaching of
prophecy in the New Testament era and that includes today, 2000. Which
brings us to the ELIJAH LIST.
So This is What THE ELIJAH LIST is:
Our purpose is to dispense some of the
more significant words we encounter of what the Holy Spirit is saying to
the church today. We are sent literally hundreds of words for submission
to this list, -- and many of them are very good, but perhaps a little more
for the personal use of the one hearing. But when we encounter a mature
word that we believe to be from the Lord---which seems to be for the
entire Body of Christ, and it appears that this word will either
Encourage, correct, exhort, edify, (etc) the Lord's Family, we put that
word out to the whole list. It is then up to you, the individual, to
discern and/or "judge" the word FOR YOURSELF if its from the
Lord. For as the scripture says, "
1 Cor 14:29 And let two or three prophets speak, and let the
others pass judgment.
We are told by many that the words on
this list have helped them in their intercessions for the Church and the
same words often convict them in areas of their life where they have
gotten "off base."
